Movie Trailer Premier

P1T2_Grandpa's Goodbye
In class right now we are doing a new project called movie trailer. It could be a comedy, adventure, scary, etc. The project has to be a minute and a half  to a quarter minute. Also the movie trailer consist of having a voice over. All of this is pretty tough so Im contributing to the movie poster and acting.

Our team faced many challenges or at least I felt like we did. One of the challenges was communication. In class and out of class we struggled on communication. Another challenge was finding time for all of us to meet. All on that one week we had to film a lot of us had somewhere to be. We didn't only have problems to face we also had our success. The success was getting the footage in time and being able to put it all together to a movie.

I think the critique results match to what I think would've put. Because there was room for improvement like maybe some better b-roll and the voice overs. For the voice over I think that I personally could've done better because my teammate Ala did good. This was a good experience working with another teammates and I learned that communication is a really big key. Sometimes people just say it because they have to put something but I learned that communication is the key.

Metamorphosis Animation

In class we are doing a new project called Metamorphosis Animation. It is when you transform one object to another object. The goal of this project is to have an object transform into another object. But the twist to it is it needs a story. Also the title needs to be noun verb noun. It may seem tricky but once you got your title it becomes easier. When you do this type of animation you want it to be unique and creative.

Our first scene in this project is having an omilu, a type of fish, going to school. After school is done he gets picked on by a barracuda. The next scene is a shark comes swimming by and stops the bullying and scares the barracuda to the deep ocean. The last scene is the omilu goes to school again. When school is done he try to swim home as fast as he can because he knows the barracuda going to try bully him. The barracuda catches up and starts to pick on the fish. The omilu builds confidence to stand up. He turns into a big spider crab and scares the barracuda. Then the spider crab walk home all happy. Our teams focus statement is to stand up and not be a bystander when you see bullying happen.

Our team's result was actually good and surprising to me at least. My teammates were Cephas and Shanden. Usually when we work together we get a 3/4. So this score for this project was actually surprising to me. Im really happy with the score we got. Also our class votes for the best overall and we actually ended up winning. I really liked this project and I think we did really well.

Geometric Portraits

Hello to everyone who is reading. We will be talking about facial expressions and our new project. In the universe facial expressions could be the same, or not. I think that in other places facial expressions are different. Like if you are happy and your talking to a local over there. Maybe over there happy face means that you like them. Another example is hand signals they are different so maybe facial expressions are different to.

To create this project there are many steps. 1. take a picture of something usually a persons face or maybe an animal 2. once you have this project on Photo Shop you go to the line tool what is found in the rectangle tool and have it in 5px and in color red. 3. once you have that you draw a line right down the middle so it is symmetrical. 4. you outline the face of the person or the animal. 5. after that you break down the face; there outline, mouth, eye, hair, nose, and face. 6. Now you start to add triangles in those areas. If it is smaller more detailed areas the triangles become smaller.

If I had to choose which poly is better from poly-1 and poly-2 I would say my poly-1 is better. First of all the poly-2 has small gaps between the triangles. The poly-1 took more time and was a little bit complicated because I wasn't use to it but, once I got the hand of it, it became easy. What I like about the poly-2 is that it took less steps but it got hard finding the correct color and the correct size. If you look at the poly-1 and the poly-2 the poly-1 has the correct size triangles. Something they both have in common is that they have the right size color and not weird bizarre colors in weird spots.

Verbal Landscapes

Hello everyone I will be talking about nature and how it impacts my life.Nature impacts my life in many ways. It is a good place to get a way from problems. It also makes me happy and makes me enjoy that day. My favorite thing in nature is the beach, that is where nature impacts my life the most. It impacts my life by letting me have fun, spending time with friends and family, and to get off things like school work.

Time lapses is where the video is speeded up to see what is happening. There are different ways to do this. You can set the camera to do it or edit the clip by speeding it up. Slow-mos is to show more of an object close up. You can do it the same way like how the time lapse was. You set the camera up in slow-mo and do it or edit it. When you do a slow-mo you want to put it in macro mode. On both of these when you film it you need it to be stable.

The hardest part of this project is making time and finding time to film. For me I had football practice that was from 4:30-6:45. That made it hard to get time. Also another thing was finding where to take the video and having to find a natural tripod. My poem is about trees and having to find a stable and high enough tripod was tough. There was also good parts. Like when we get to edit the clips. I like to see the videos in slow-mo or in time lapse because you just get to see these cool things.

The results that I was given for this project is what I expected . There was a few things that I could of work on to make it even better. Like the shots I could of been closer for the slow-mos. I also think I could of get better angles of certain clips. I agree with the results that I was given because there were at least seven things that could of been improved.

Music Video Finale

In Mr. Sanderl class we are doing a music videos. So our song is called Not Done Yet by Soja. So my team storyline is that were like at restaurant and we are eating. Then the waitress comes and takes our food away and were not done yet eating. Our lyrics is are related to our storyline because it about not done eating and the lyrics is like how were talking about are food.

My favorite fast-edit montage sequence was the part when Shanden dropped one of the scenes right there and the lip sync was just perfect. It was just like whoa. Another part that was my favorite was when we had this lip sync and this story line and it was a fade. With the fade applied it just look cool. Also I like the part when we hit those lip syncs like we just dropped it there and some of them just matched.

This video shows all our best work that we learned from this year because in this video you will use the techniques you learned from the year. Examples is like rule of thirds, Close, medium, and wide. We also learned camera skills such as how to keep the camera still, what to look for in the background and skills like that. Also we will be showing our photoshop skills in this project.

Musician by: Soja
Title: Not Done Yet

It's hard for me when I
Think about the things that never been

They keep coming back again
Like they've got something to prove

I love my memories but they have a way

Of controlling me at times
And I'm so lost without you yeah yeah
And I can't get far from it.

And from what went wrong

And I know it's stupid cuz it's been so long.

But farther I give away the more I hold on

It's just this feeling I get
It's like I'm not done yet
I'm not done yet
I think about those times
When we were young
And everything was so brand new
And our words were so true and you
Looked into my eyes that one last time
If I had known back then
What I'd be living with today
We might have stayed but
It's hard for me when I
Think about the things that never been
They keep coming back again
Like they've got something to prove
I love my memories but they have a way
Of controlling me at times
And I'm so lost without you yeah yeah
And I can't get far from it.
And from what went wrong
And I know it's stupid cuz it's been so long.
But farther I give away the more I hold on
It's just this feeling I get
It's like I'm not done yet
I'm not done yet
I think about those times
When we were young
And everything was so brand new
And our words were so true and you
Looked into my eyes that one last time

Animated Life Lessons

Tell us about your teammates personal character traits & how your story exaggerates who they are.
My teammates is Kalista And Kyllie. So Kalista is a very clumsy, sloppy, and is mainly happy and joyful. Kyllie is a cheerful, outgoing, and tries her best to cheer people up and also likes to be cheerful. Me Zephen is like a shy boy but can also be funny.

Our message in our story is that if people try to put you down it only means that you are above them. Don't give up that are message that we are trying to send.  Like I'm pretty sure all of us has been tried to be put down. Maybe it cause they are jealous or it just seem stupid or funny. Just don't give up if people are trying to put you down and that what Kalista did she kept going.

So during this project it was like the most stressing project so far that we had. One of them that we faced as a team was knowing how to animate. It not that easy. Im a second year student in this class and I still don't know how to animate. Another problem that I faced and that my team kind of had to deal with was me. Im going to be honest. It was because I didn't come during recess to help because I thought I was going to fail so I was stressed out and I couldn't deal with it. So those were the problems that my team faced and what I faced.

Character Development

To me I think that I am an active type of person. If I stay in all day I say I'm bored cause there nothing to do inside unless I am tired then I can. But I like to do something for the day and just get out of the house. I have things where there like bad things but there funny. One thing is that I like to be on time or being early and usually I'm late. Another thing is I'm like serious at certain points but I also like to joke around.

In class we are making animations of our self. We need to have character traits of our self when we make it. The traits that I'm gonna try add is me being active like doing a sport and me being late even though I don't like being late. I'm still not sure of how I'm going to go and make it.

For this GIF animation project we had like about 5 or 6 steps. First we had Mr.Sandrel take three different pics of us, One facing forward, the other facing back, and one on the side. Then we went to photoshop and cut out our self from the background. When that was done we had to crop it so photoshop wouldn't quit unexpectedly. After on photoshop we went to window > animation. Then we made us come in a entrance. After that when we were in the middle we made us do like a little dance. after that we made an entrance of us leaving. When that was done went to save it. I like doing projects like these but even doing the simple way it still kind of complicated to me. But I enjoy doing things like this. If I could know how to work it all like nothing than I would really like this project even more.

.MOV Film Festival

Our keywords that we are using is change, kindness, realization, actions, and lessons. These keywords that we chose is like how changing your actions can make you realize that you don't need to steal and do bad things.  If you can do one simple thing that is nice you would feel good after. I would like you to try to do one act of kindness and see what reactions you get and when you do that it makes you feel happy.

Our message that we are trying to show is that you don't need to go and steal and do bad things to survive. You could just do one simple act of kindness and be rewarded. Basically that everyone can change there act by a simple act of kindness. If you can do a good deed that is awesome. We want you the reader/watcher to know that steeling is bad and that you shouldn't do that or any bad thing.

Our team had like a few challenges that we faced and conquered. One of them was getting our planned checked off. What happened was Micah who came to our team so we had to kinda rearrange our story and plan. Another problem was finding time to film and where. Luckily we were all able to meet up. The last problem we had was filming because we had to find how are we going to do this to make it look all real.

Tiny Spherical Worlds

The point of Composite image is to go beyond of what your camera can do. It is also when many photo are tooken and combined together. When you do a composite image you want more than one photo. You want to take more than one because you may get things that your normal camera might of never got. When You take the pictures you take it vertical because it covers the ground and sky. If it horizontal it cuts out the sky.

If you look at a spherical panos and polar your like there no difference. A polar image is when it shows out of the place and has they sky in it. Also a polar is more opened up compared to a spherical. A spherical image doesn't show much of the sky. Another thing is that a spherical is more like looking at a snow globe and is more curved.

What makes my tiny world convincing is that it all connected and look like an actual world. When I mean connected is that when you make it together it doesn't all match up and also there a line straight in the middle when you make it into a polar. Also it look like a planet to me.

Hockney Style Joiners

How are David Hockney’s photomontages different from yours
David Hockney images are more like simple.  David Hockney is the man who created photomontage. He uses those simple shapes. Also instead of taking a picture he uses like more of painting pictures. He uses more abstract pictures and unique pictures.

To tell if an image is sending positive effects usually it would show something like a happy face or something meaningful. Another thing that a positive image it shows a place that is like a beautiful place and it having light in it. If it a sad or negative image it would be something like with a plain old dark background.

The message I want to give from my final photomontage is like be happy and not be sad. It's a positive image. Instead of a person I used an animal because animals are more adorable in my opinion. When you see a cute animal your like aww it cute and that what I wan't my image to like show. This was our last recent project that we finished on.

2016 Aspirations

Since it is a new year 2016 I would like to set some goals. My first goal is to go the Kalapaki or Kealia and catch the perfect wave where I could get in the barrel and out of it and then it has a long ride after. My second goal is to get me a hover board. My third goal is to get good grades and not have any C,D,&F what I haven't been getting. Also I would like to keep my room clean. My final goal would be better at football and bodyboarding.

My main goal is to get good grades. If I get good grades then I could get into a good collage. If I get into a good collage I could get a good job. Then when I get a good job I could have a successful life. And doing what I love for like 30-40 year I can retire. That to me is like a good life right there.

The steps I will do is come to school every day. Then I will listen to the teacher. If you don't listen you don't know what hapening. When we get work Ill try my hardest on it. If I don't know how Ill ask how to do it. When it comes to the next day Ill try to repeat those steps again.

Scratch Game Desisgn

In Mr.Sanderl class lately we been learning about scratch.User experience influenced me by helping me get better at my game. When I first heard about code and scratch I had no idea what it was. It also showed me how to make the time, score, and how to move a sprite.

With these two games the plat former and the chase they have similarities and differences. One thing that is different is the sprite I chose, the background, and simple things that you can tell. Something that you can't tell was how complicated they were to make from each other. Things that were the same about the game was using the same blocks to move my sprite. Another thing that was similar was that I had problems with them and I still do.

Out of these two games I would have to say the chase game was more easy. The platform was more hard because I had more problems than the chase game. The most difficult bug fixes is I had for the chase game was when my score stopped working. When I went back to fix it I couldn't find it so my chase game still has bugs in it. For the plat former game I had a lot more bugs then the chase. My sprite would stop moving and when it land on a plat form it would go right through. I wasn't the only one and I got so worried but I wasn't the only one. I still can't find what is wrong with these two games.

Invention Commercial

For this project we had certain goals that we had to meet. We had 3 main goals that we needed to meet. First goal that we had is, is it entertaining. Second does the video show how your product works. The last goal was does it work and that we need it and can't live with out it. Meeting these expectations for our team was kind of tough.

The best team moment that we had together was when we were filming. When we were filming it was actually starting to get fun because we were talking and just hanging out.  Another moment we had was when we were editing because we were playing around with the computer like with the transitions and things like that. Another moment we had was when we were doing the song part because we forgot or we stumbled and we kept ruining it.

When we were doing this project we all did different things. I was mostly being the main character. Jaesha did filming and editing. Mike did filming and editing with Jaesha. I didn't film because I was the main character.

Composition Scavenger Hunt

Recently we had a project about composition techiques. The best composition techique to me that I think is contrast and content. To me I like it because it has something that stands out. An example would be having the backround all brown then having a bright bird that stands out. It would be your first thing your eyes would see because it stands out.

To me the composition techique that I find that is the hardest would be unusal angle. I find that one hard because you wouldn't be standing up. You would be in a weird spot. I could use unusal angle more by using it in videos. An example would be like squatting and having the camera facing up but not that much as low angle. If you are in a weird position it would get the character in that weird position too.

On my team there was Mike who was are team leader. Mike also did voice over along with Jaesha. Jaesha also did some voice over and filming with Mike. What I did was being an actor along with Mike. I also did filming with the rest of my crew.

Cracking the Code

I think that coding is a thing that most people should learn. In class we are learning about coding and right now it's fun. Coding is instructions in programming a computer or a device. coding can be complex some times. After when you do it awhile you get it.

When we first started coding we had a website about coding. When I tried coding for my first time it was hard to under stand. I didn't get it. I didn't even knew what it was. In class Mr. Sanderl showed us coding and what it is.

If I could make my own game I would call it maze shooter. It would be where your character would be in the maze and it has all traps. The way you would get away from getting traped you would have to jump in time or do a move to get out. When you get traped the game would go slower so you can see what to do. It would be kind of a challenging game for strategy and memorization.

My Humorous Monologue

KaneakuaZ_Comedy from Kapaa Middle School MEDIA on Vimeo.

From this project a few things I learned; One thing was how to work Imovie better. The second thing was how to tell a joke better. Another thing that I learned was about sarcasm like when there being sarcastic and when they aren't. The fourth thing was how to import.

A pad is when the visuals cover the audio in the empt space so you don't see a blank space. Padding in a movie is important because it goes over your monologue so we don't see you just speaking. You use your visuals to go over your audio so you have something to look at.

The parts I was weak at was getting the visuals. It was hard because some parts I had to use my other camera for it because a part was in the ocean. Parts I was strong was putting in effects. The parts I could improve was better footage, having parts stable, lighting should of been better, and no windy noise.

Comedy Writing

Sense of humor is an important character trait because to have a good joke you need to have a sense of humor. Sesne of humor is to perceieve humor of a good joke. It is also important because having sense of humor is also finding ways of jokes that people will like. You don't want to have a good joke that you would like and then you have no one laughing but you only get it so you want to have a sesne of humor so not only you get but other people get.

My comedic monologue is about three people that are hiding from the cops. There is a Filipino a Hawaiian and Portugese that is me. At the end The cops look for the portugese and he is at a potato field and they say is anyone there and instead of being quiet he says POTATO. It's funny because instead of being quiet he / I speak and portugese can't stop talking.

Motivational Poster

To meet the requirements for a motivational poster, you need to have all your words kerened with no spaces showing. The second requirement includes having outter glow, drop shadow, stroke, bevel and emboss. The third requirement is the triadic color scheme. You need one domaint color and two harmonious colors. Then you need to have color balance, curves, and exposer. The last requirement is visual balance, meaning equal distribution of visual weight for artistic appeal.

To do this you first need two text layers. One of them is for your manifesto and your personal quotes. To size your words for your quotes and manifesto you need to kerning. It's when you space out the letter to make it fit or make it the way you want it. Your second layer includes three symbols that represent you and a portrait of your face. You can use the triadic color scheme to make the color you want for your manifesto and your quotes. You are using the triadic color scheme to find that color. The triadic color scheme is when you blend 1 dominant color and 2 accent colors.

The hardest part for me was kerning and getting the right color. Kerning was hard because you have to space it out and get it the perfect way you want it. It also was the longest part of the project along with the triadic color part. With kerning you have get the outer glow and all those other effects. I had to find the right color that I liked and as you can see in my finished product I didn't use the same colors as my pictures.  The color is only on my quotes and my manifesto.
