Proactive or Procrastination?

I'm more of a proactive person. I'm a proactive person because I like to get things done before the due date and not do it at the last minute. When I do things at the last minute, I struggle and slack because I don't have enough time.  To me it's better to be proactive than to procrastinate because you won't worry and you can just relax.

When I have free time I like to rest for awhile. When I'm done resting, I do my homework so I won't have to worry about it. Even if I want to play I still do my homework first. The work can be hard but fun at the same time. To help me be productive, I eat or listen to music. I usually do my work in the living room and some times it can be loud in there.

So, I can change my habits by going to my room instead because it's more quiet. The quietness can help me because I won't get distracted easily. It's a good place because no one will bother me and ask me things. It's also a place that relaxes me when I'm getting stressed out.

My Visual Poem

My visual poem is about my pop warner football practice. Some of the pictures are of my football team doing warm ups, drills, and scrimmages. I think the visuals helps make an impact by making my poem more interesting.  People can learn from it and may want to know more about football.  They may even want to watch other videos on football.

I am not satisfied with my results because I needed to add in more special effects and work on my timing with the pictures and my voice.  Also I accidentally cut out the last line of my poem because I pressed the button too early.  I could make my visual poem better by having the last sentence in my video.  Then my visual poem would be more complete.

Finished News Story

Our story is about Coco Palms getting rebuilt. After getting hit from hurricane Iniki, Coco Palms was destroyed and closed down.  Then on the fourth of July (2014) parts of  Coco Palms were burned down.

The people who contributed to this project were Neliza, Makena, Shanden, and me (Zephen).

Our final project turned out good because we met the standard for this assignment.  I am happy with our project because we got one of the highest scores.  I agree with our group's score because we had some camera movement, were not that clear and had other tiny problems. Even though we didn't have the best Hiki No Project, we still did good.We did our best as a team.

Real World Report

My World News report is about the lava flow on the Big Island, Hawaii.  The lava flow started from Kilauea volcano back in June.  It's now headed to Pahoa village.   The lava flow moves 5 to 10 yards per hour.  Now the lava flow is about less than 100 ft. from 40 to 50 homes.  The lava has been flowing over grass lands, trees, and tall bushes.

I think Hawaii should care about the lava flow because it's giving off lots of smoke.  People who have respiratory problems can get sick from breathing in too much smoke. Also if the lava flow doesn't stop it will take over a lot of land and houses.  A lot of people may have to move because they might lose their homes.

My opinion about this issue is that people in Pahoa should be prepared to move just in case the lava comes.  They should pack their food, clothing and their special things.  If they are not prepared, they may have nothing left if the lava burns their house down.

Lessons Learned

The most interesting part of our project was learning how to use final cut pro. I asked Shanden for help because it had complicated parts that I didn't know how to use. It was kind of confusing at first but later on it got easy.  Even though I had a hard time using final cut pro it was still fun because I learned something new.

The most valuable part of the film making process is to work together to film, edit and make our project.  It's important to work together as a team because you'll get more work done.  To me, our biggest roadblock was communicating because Neliza and Makena are 7th graders and me and Shanden are 6th graders.  Me and Shanden are quiet and it's our first year at Kapa'a Middle School.  By the end of the project me and Shanden felt like we were able to communicate with them more.

Hiki No Behind The Scenes

For this Hiki No project, we were told to get into teams of four. My team members were Neliza, Makena, Shanden, and me (Zephen).  Mr. Sanderl told us that we would be able to choose a profile or news story.  With the profile or news story, we were told to make a video on our topic. A profile story is were it's 2 minutes long and the news story is 3 minutes long. Out of our whole entire class our team was the only one to pick a news story.

We chose Coco Palms for our topic. We picked Coco Palms because it's a special place to Kauai. Our project went well. We had some struggles but we handled it.  The main struggle our team had was sticking to the due dates. For me, the hardest struggle was working with other people I didn't know.  Throughout the project, I started to get to know them better and I felt more confident to work with them.

When the camera wasn't rolling, our team discussed what we were going to do.  When we got off track one of us would tell the others to get back on track.  We tried our hardest to complete our project.

The Experiment

In the photoshop assignment, Mr. Sanderl let us try phototshop for the first time. He gave us no rules and no instructions. I think Mr. Sanderl  had us do it without any instructions because he wanted us to learn to ask someone if we don't know how to do it and become a self directed learner.

The good thing about this assignment was learning something new without instructions and thinking on your own. It was fun but hard at the same time. I didn't know how to do it but then I asked and then I knew how to do the basics of the photoshop. I wasn't an advance person on this assignment but at least I knew the basics of photoshop.

Back To School

My favorite moment was coming back to school and meeting my friends. I get to see most of my friends in P.E.  I  also liked meeting new teachers. My favorite teacher is Mr. Muramaru because he's funny and he teaches my favorite class, P.E.  Also it's nice to move from one class to another instead of being in one class all day.  I like being at a new school, I never went to before.

My biggest challenge this year was going to a bigger school. I was nervous moving from Kapaa Elementary to Kapaa Middle school because this school is more bigger. Since I didn't know the school good I used the map to get around. It took awhile for me to know were my classes were. But now I know were my classes are I don't need to use the map.

This year I'm gonna be successful by doing all my work. I do my work after school. If I don't finish it in  time I do it after football practice. I stay up late till I finish my home work. I don't like home work but I do it to learn.
